Been living in a fantasy world

Sorry that I haven't been posting half as much as I used too, but I've been addicted to a new game. Guild Wars is probably the most addictive game I've seen since Diablo 2 came out. It's probably one of the most creative and innovative games to come out in a while. The nicest part of the whole game is that it doesn't charge a monthly fee like some of the others out there. I've had the game almost a month now and it was used as an alternative to going to the bars all the time. It's been a HUGE success in that aspect but it has also made me neglect the other aspects of life. No, I haven't quit my job, or given up daily routines, but I have been in a hurry every day to get home to play a little bit more. This weekend all I have done is play on the game and do a few things around the house. It's kept me sober for a while, but it has taken me away from my beloved caffeine and away from most other people. I'll live with it. Tomorrow starts summer I session and we have summer camps. Happy, happy, joy, joy! I really hate some of these groups, but as long as they behave, there won't be any problems.

Peace!

Shiner Bock

Shiner Bock is one of my favorite beers made here in the states. It's got a good body with lots of flavor. Mind you, it's not for the faint-at-heart. This is a DARK beer. It's made here in Texas in the little town of Shiner. The Spoetzl family did good when they came up with this brew. This has been one of my favorites for a number of years because of the taste, availability and price. It's not that expensive, but a bit more than a regular domestic, but well worth the price. It can be found at nearly any bar or convienence store in the south. You won't have a chance in hell of finding it up north, but there are a few decent beers up there.

Let me know what you think.

Peace.

Beer

Or as I know it--the stuff dreams are made of. I could go on and on and on about what I love about beer, what I know about beer, and what beer is good for your personality. I'm even thinking about doing a separate site dedicated to beer. What do you think?

Thanks Doug for giving me a topic I can talk about for hours on end, and even drink for hours on end.

Peace!

You make one up

Had a good time seeing my little sister the other day. BUT, I realized that I could NEVER live in Austin. The people there are STRANGE!

I was wonder why I never get comments any more? Am I really that boring? That tame? I could go on about anything you want. So, I am asking all 3 of you who read this to give me a topic to work with. We'll see what I can do.

Peace!

What a Weekend!

This weekend I went to Austin for my little sister's graduation from law school. I was going to drive up there on Friday night/Saturday morning. I had the alarm set for a 2 am wake up. I heard the alarm go off and hit snooze. Little did I know that once I do that, I was going to be out for another few hours. I finally woke up around 5:30 am. See, I had told my sister that I would be there by 6 am. In a brilliant fit of inspiration, I decided to fly up there. Checked out how much it would cost and how long it'll take. It wasn't going to be much difference either way.

I get to the airport at 6:45 for an 8:30 flight. The stupid counter doesn't open until 7:25. Being that I don't believe in having a credit card, nor in making flight arrangements ahead of time , I was subjected to the wonderful extra screening that they do for "suspicious" people. Listen, I'm the last one you have to worry about on the damn plane. I'm the one who if I was on any of the flights during 9/11, I would have done anything to take the bastards out. No one is going to delay me from getting to where I want to be, especially some "Afghan terrorists."

Why did I put those in quotations? I'll tell you why. One of the main tenants of Islam is to NOT touch liquor. Yet these "terrorists" were seen in a strip bar getting drunk the night before they did their little job. The other thing is that they don't look at naked women in that type of venue. The funny thing is that Israelis do do those things. The nation of Israel has been trying to get us into a shooting war in their neck of the woods for a LONG time. Anyone remember when they opened fire on an American ship? Anyone remember that Osama was trained by the CIA? He was funded by the American people to fight the Soviets in the 80's and 90's. America, you need to start looking at the facts and what has happened in the past. Use your minds and then make the judgements for yourself; DO NOT let the media guide you into what you want to think.

Peace!

Work, Work, Work!

Been really busy at work, trying to wind down the semester. Tomorrow is the last day of finals and then I get to slow down a wee bit. I have to drive up to Austin/San Antonio for my little sisters graduation from St. Mary's Law School. Yes, she is going to be a lawyer, but she's decided NOT to sell her soul for a few years and make the BIG bucks. I'm proud of her for sticking to her convictions (pun intended) and doing it for a good reason.

I got told by my boss the other day that I have to go to Houston and help one of the universities there transition to our way of doing things. Makes me remember Star Trek and the Borg. Slowly, we are assimilating all the university food services in the country. I should walk in there on my first day and tell the staff that worked under the old regime that "resistance is Futile." I really don't want to go there, but it is a chance that very rarely comes comes around for someone who has only been with the company less than a year. Houston is an ok town, but it brings back a lot of memories. At least I get to hang out with my "son" for a few weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to convince him that he is a "mexi-can" and not a "mexi-can't." The way he's been acting about finding a job is pathetic. I know he reads this from time to time, so hopefully he'll get a hint and get off his ass and look for any job he can get.

Caught one of my cashier's stealing tonight, but it wasn't red-handed. We get to have a nice talk to her tomorrow. She's been giving away things to her friends and not ringing them up, which is automatic grounds for termination. This same one asked me the other day why I was being mean to all of them. I look at her and said if she thinks this is mean, she hasn't seen anything yet. It looks like it's time for the horns to come back out and show them why I was called an asshole at my last three jobs. I'm a little heavy-handed when it comes to discipline of my staff, but at least it's fair to all involved. As long as they follow the rules, they have nothing to worry about. Heaven help them when they don't though. I've been known to fire people for what they think is the slightest of reasons, but they had been given every chance they had to keep their jobs. It's been a while since I've done that at work, but it looks like it's time again.

Everyone be good out there.

Peace!

Some of my Friends are nuts!

Just got a call from one of the girls who worked for me back in Houston tonight. She constantly flirted with me when she worked for me back then, but because of me being her boss, I couldn't reciprocate. She's the same one who caused me and my last girlfriend to break-up. Long story, but let's put it this way, she bit me and my girlfriend came over then next day and saw the bite mark. She bit me through 2 shirts and she knew that I wouldn't even mess around on my girlfriend. So a couple of months later (after I quit that job) she called me up and wanted to go out drinking. We went out for a bit, but she was seeing an abusive SOB and had to go home before anything happened between us.

About a year went by and I found out that she was moving to California with her new boyfriend. She'd call me from time to time, but nothing serious in our conversations. The last time I caught her on-line she told me that she was getting engaged. I gave her my condolences, because I know that she could always do better. She called me up tonight because it's one of the few times that he's not around and she can talk about anything she wants to. She was venting that this guy won't put out for her because he has a "headache." I told her that is what the woman is supposed to use to get out of sex, not the man. She was supposed to get married in September, but obviously she's got doubts, especially after she's talked to me. She's supporting him and he doesn't appreciate what she does for him. I told her that I still want to be her friend no matter what happens with them, but secretly I'm hoping that she dumps him and moves back to Texas and gives me a shot. You never know, stranger things have happened.

On another note, ran into the nurse on Friday and asked her how she's doing. She said that she'd been busy and that she hadn't gotten ANY of the text messages I'd sent her (total of 3). Nothing bad, one's like I hope she's having a good day, nice guy stuff. As we were sitting there listening to someone sing "That's Amore," she turns to her friend and says that she Hates Italian food. I took her out to an Italian restaurant the week before. I then finish my beer and let all know that I was gonna get out of there for the night. She asked why, and I told her because the fact that I was tired. Namely tired of people's bullshit. The fact that they can't be honest to others or themselves. If she would have said that she didn't like Italian when we went out, I might have had some respect for her, but now I realize that she was like the fakes I deal with all the time.

I called one of the women I know through work. She's cute, single, and no kids. We talked for about an hour last night and found out that we are a bit alike. We're both tired of people who play games. She's always busy with work as well, but she's got weekends off too. We'll see how this goes. I'm sick and tired of being alone. Been waiting for the woman of my dreams to come into my life, but for now, I'll have to settle for someone who is here now, as usual.

Be good out there.

Peace!

Farewell O'Malley's

Tonight was the last night that my favorite bar here in Corpus was open. I was going to go, but I decided to go without. I've realized that I spend too much time at the bars and it's time to get back to being "myself." I did however, go up there on Friday. While I was up there I ran intop the nurse from the other week. She wasn't too surprised to see me there, but acted surprised when I mentioned the text messages I had sent to her on Tuesday. She claims that she hasn't gotten any of her text messages all week. I find that hard to believe. She even said that she was going to call me, but figured that I would be at the bar on Friday. Little does she even know that I'm never there on the weekends (Friday-Sunday). She could have always called me if she wanted to talk to me.

Moving forward. I had a meeting with our liquor representative on Friday. All I can say is "WOW!" The wine rep had sent her to come meet me for business reasons, but he isn't blind either. The women in the office were sitting in the table next to us and were talking about how I was acting. I was a complete gentleman and didn't try to hit on her at all. As she was leaving she asked what the easiest way to get ahold of me, either the office number or my number. She had my number all along. I told her to give me a call whenever she wants to.

The day before I had one of the women that work at the university came by at lunch and was giving me a hard time. We joked around a little bit and then she said that we need to get together sometime, to talk, or argue about politics. She's ok, but I heard that she was "high maintainance." We'll see what happens.

Everyone be good.

Peace!
